What is the Heritage Center levy?
The Heritage Center levy, renewed in May 2022, supports the maintenance and upkeep of Springfield’s City Hall and Marketplace located at 117 S. Fountain Avenue. The municipal building was originally built in 1890 by a native Springfielder, Charles A. Cregar, and is an iconic landmark of Clark County’s history. Today, the Heritage Center is home to the Heritage Center museum, run by the Clark County Historical Society, as well as to other organizations like the Veterans Service Commission, United Way, Un Mundo, Sip & Dipity Paint Bar, and Sunflower Yoga.
The levy funds repair, upkeep, and maintenance of the building itself and does not fund the operations of the Historical Society or any of the other organizations within the building.
What does it cost? To the owner of a $100,000 property, the Heritage Center levy costs $9.60 per year or $0.80 per month for five years.
